Yeah, the cycle was what I was thinking of. Also, for the more fighting-based ones, hows about some sort of stat system and such? To make it fair.

Stat system....that sounds pretty good. I think sort've like what Ama set up with the partner attacks- the amount of damage they do- we should establish that for our main characters too.

Well, I remember a certain system from a forum RPG. We could give some characters a set amount of points to spend on skills (of course, making sure they're in line with the character). So for example you'd have like Attack, defense and the like and you'd share that number out between stats. I was also thinking of an exp growth stat or something for weaker characters (like Flynn) so they level faster and stuff... I'll think into it more...

I really like the exp growrth stat too- All of this sounds like a great idea. Maybe even we'd have a seperate battle thread so when you DO encounter an enemy you could go to that board's battle field and duke it out and at the end have a little exp. dish out, like an earnings. Then we'd hafta come up what each enemy is worth when defeated though. Like a goomba would be worth 2 exp. points or something like that, and so on.

Well I'm not sure about the battle thread... it'd be a good way to make sure it doesn't get in the way of the RP itself. I know, we could have different threads for each encounter if we make each location or segment it's own child board. Maybe in an enemy encounter the main thread could be temporarily locked (to make sure everyone gets into the battle) and unlock it after the fight?
Also, since there probably won't be as many enemies as one of the games, maybe they should have a higher exp yield or something.

This is sounding very similar to an old pokemon RP forum I was on before~
The idea of a battle area sounds nice, and within it would be subforums of multiple areas in which characters to fight could spawn. Like Petal Meadows would consist of all 3 basic types of Goombas and Koopatroopas, and a place like the Haunted Mansion could have Duplighosts, Boos, and Eeries.
.......................Then again I might be just running at the mouth depending if I forgot to refresh the page or not and somebody already said this. KD

I love moles! I always wanted one to be my friend! We had tons of them in the yard, but they were too fast for me to catch. So fast for little poor-sighted guys!
I love you guys, A turn based sounds absolutely sexeh, in the most liberal way of using the word. And I'm down with stats- All the old MSN boards I use to roam at before the exploded ran on stats :3
I think the cousil of evil at the start would work best if we had absolutely no idea what plot we're doing, then the good guys could bounce off of that. BUuuuuut if we have a plot decide, and I'm sure we will, starting with the traditional Mario and Luigi scene before stuff hits the fan will be neat.
I plan to invite lurkers! It'll be like a movie with words!
OOoh! Battle Area! So, we'd have like a main plot thread and then say if it was time for a random battle, they'd have to post it in the Haunted Mansion Battle Area if they were near the Haunted Mansion

What if we start with Mario/Weegee and it's like a NORMAL day--almost too quiet and normal and the bros. wonder why Bowser like, hasn't attempted an attack. Then the day could just progressively get weirder- they go into town and find it COMPLETELY abandoned! Then they run to the castle- same thing.
Just an idea, feel free to smack it away.

OOoooh, how Twilight zoney!
I like that! It would be completely void of music and everything, just the occasional wind whistle. They would be determined to figure out what happened, where would they go next? Koopa Kingdom?

OMG. It would sound like when that Samurai place in SPM was wiped out by the Void! And it was all white after and creepy. XDDD
Right! See, they could go to other kingdoms and see how far spread it is and eventually find out who's behind it.

Well if everyone's alright with that beginning, hoozah! XD
We defintely need to work out the following though: Stat system, battle system, who's allianced with whom, main villains and their intentions. Any thoughts?

I think as far as experience and such could go- we could make it similar to the sort of things they have on this site c: s1.zetaboards.com/Pokemon_RPG_Renewed/topic/1384540/1/ (I abandoned it long ago when I realized my character on there is possibly the blandest thing ever since dirt .____.;; ) It doesn't have to be exact, but when I was dinking around on that site it seemed a pretty easy system to take a hold of~ KD I think I also left because there were just so many stinking rules. I like here where there's freedom to go any place in your imagination- that and it's about Mario, which automagically trumps any other series in my mind. xDDDDD

Stats are like- what shows up on a character's profile when you play RPG's- like Paper Mario or Mario n' Luigi Bowser's Inside Story. They show you the HP (Hit/Health points) Attack strength, defense strength, Badge Points, and Luck points and alla that good junk. If we were to establish something like that here for battles so you can level up your character like an actual game, we'd have to come up with BEGINNING stats for all of our characters as well as how quickly they'd be leveling up after each battle.
