I had to start a thread about this game. I HAD to. This was the FIRST Mario game I played, along with SMB3,and I rather liked it. It somewhat strayed from traditional Mario stories,as it was it in Dinosaur Land, and the Koopalings made a return. This game has a real nice play to it. Sure, there ARE things to complain about, but isn't it just a truly good game? If you've played it,you know what I'm saying.

I myself have kinda mixed feelings on it (Keep in mind I've only really played the GBA version). It does have quite a lot of cool stuff (like the temporary item storage), the Koopa clown car, and the fact that not all of the Koopalings fought the same. On the other hand, there are some things that bug me, like how the cape feather and blue Yoshis basically let you skip levels or how all of the fortress bosses were exactly the same, at least Boom-Boom had some variation.
It is good overall, I just wonder if it's really one of the best...

Yes,there are thing to complain and toot about. I really liked the item storage thing. That is really helpful. I did like how only about 2 Koopalings shared the same battle technique. THe Koopa Clown Car was just an unexpected thing. It was a good thin, though. BUT,I DI not like how if you were Fire or Cape Mario, and you got hit,you automatically went down to mini-Mario. You didn't JUST lose the ability, you lost the Mushroom Mario, too. I'm done for now. cx

I know EXACTLY what your talking about, seeing as how it wasn't just my first Mario game, but was also the first console game I ever played, Super Mario RPG and Super Mario All-Stars both following shortly after. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
Especially the fact that both me and my brother had a strange encounter in the game that we have never found since, and both me and him remember every lick of it. He was playing at the time and I was watching on the couch as he was going through one of the ghost houses, the one with all the green bubbles in it. He ended up going into a room where a ginormous ghost was asleep, and the bubbles were coming from his nose :V He basically had to inch his way across the top of the ghost to reach a door it was guarding behind it, then he found a 3 up moon and got to the exit gate unlocking a path into the bonus world that is past the star world.
I still have no clue if it was real or not but either way both me and him still know that we saw it and still know that that moment, was awesome~

Yes,first console for me as well. Then Mario 2,and SMB3 followed. Then all that blah. I'm glad someone shares the feelings I have for this game! I used to love/hate the ghost houses. I loved them, because thy were fun. Hated them, because it always took me FOREVER to get out of them! And,I sure wish I could see that sleeping boo! That sounds really cool! xD

Verily~ I always enjoyed the stages in the Forest of Illusions meself :3 Those and the Vanilla Dome both. I just wish I could run into it again KD For some reason there was an already near completed game on the cartridge when we bought it, and it was new, but from it we could access all of the different levels, cause me and my brother sucked at video games back then xB Maybe our copy was hacked or something :U

EvalevaOh,I did, too. Until you had to get that secret exit,to get to Roy,I LOVED that level. Sure, the Ghost House and underwater level were annoying, but get past that, and the whole thing is awesome, right? Ahhh, the Vanilla Dome. I loved the last two the most. I REALLY like the one with the Blarggs. I would take my Yoshi in there, and GULP! ye-bye Blarggy!

This was my first Mario -no wait, let me rephrase it, my first- game ever, I still remember when I watched my sister and cousin play through the levels, I wasn't much of a gamer back then, wan ^^U I remember I killed myself running into own of the Dino-thingies in the Yoshi Island, wan :'3 XDD And that was the game that made me love the Koopalings, maybe it was because of how freaking hard Lemmy's castle was that made me like him, wan XDDD I still remember, I was the best of all going through Morton's castle, but I sucked at defeating the Koopalings at first, wan OTL But last year me and my sister decided to take out our old console and play the game, in two days we had like 70% done, wan :3 I remember, I tried to get all the secret exits, it was so much fun, da wan XDD But I really hated the fortress, they were so hard for me to beat... and I hate the 'Central Star' World, never beat it at all, wan T~T And the special exit for one of the Chocolate Island levels that had something to do with either coins or time was a pain, wan XD My favorite places... definitely Illusion Forest, I loved those forest and bubbles -w- , and Vanilla Dome, it was fun, and actually pretty difficult for me at first XD , and Donut Plains were fun too, my sister found the secret exit of the second Ghost House by accident, and I defeat the King Boo in the first one, da wan XD Most hated: oh God Larry's castle... and there were also the Bridge levels before Ludwig's castle (that had to be the smallest world ever)... central star world levels... and the sunken air ship... pardon me while I go cut myself with a lettuce, wan -w- But for some reason I really liked Morton's and Roy's castles, they were fun, wan XD (Long comment is long, wan *shot*)
