(I decided to give a crack at an X-Naut backstory. Hope you guys enjoy it! Feel free to give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism if you feel I need some. No flames, though)
Nautia. The homeplanet of what we now call the X-Nauts. But those aren’t their true name, mind you. No, long ago, the X-Nauts went by their species name, the Nautians. The Nautians are a bit different from you and me, for they were technologically advanced and quite productive. They’re also fast learners, changing things here and there when the old ways weren’t of any use and improving objects and whatever else as much as they could. They also differ from us physically.
The Nautians are usually short, the average height being around 4 feet or so, though there are some of their kind that grow taller than that. Their skin feels the same way as ours, but the colors range from winter white to midnight black. Their eyes are different shades of the colors blue, red, green, yellow and orange, brown and purple being rare and their ears that flop when they move differ in length, as if it was hair. Aside from their almost non-existent noses, which are actually like a raised bump on their face, the differences stop there, dear reader.
Now that I have told you of their planet and the people that live on it, let me tell you a story. I bet you’re wondering why the X-Nauts even exist, do you? And why are they so far from home? Their planet is not in peril, their friends and family aren’t. So why did they separate themselves from it all? Well…if you’re willing to listen, I will tell you.
This is how it went…

Putting up the first chapter, since I'm pretty sure the prologue isn't much. ~~ Hope you enjoy this one.
~Our tale begins with a prince~
In the country of Naut, the main central for all of Nautia, is a giant tower that serves as the home of the Emperor and his family. The tower has stood for many generations, resisting war, famine and strife. This tower was made of a material that the Nautians called "xamium", which is something like steel, but much stronger and most of the buildings were made of it.
Now, like all rulers, you had your good and your bad. And with the birth of a new king, hopefully this one will be better than the current one.
: The Prince's Room : Two young Nautians stood over a metallic crib, looking at the newborn baby inside. One of the Nautians looked to be about 10, with obsidian skin and contrasting sky blue eyes. He wore a red shirt with white pants, white gloves and white boots to match. The boy next to him wore the same uniform, but this boy had light grey skin with matching eyes that were like clear water. He looked to be about a year older than the one next to him and usually acted it also.
"So what are we here for again?" asked the older one. The younger replied "I just wanted to see him for a bit." The eldest merely blinked and looked back at the baby.
This newborn, the new prince of Nautia, had white skin and was quite small. His eyes weren't open yet, for that didn't happen until much later on, so the eye color was a mystery until then.
A few minutes passed before one of them, the eldest, said "He's kinda cute, isn't he?" The black one snapped his head towards his direction and said in an strict tone "Alden, remember that this "cute" guy is the enemy here!" Alden, as we will now call him, flinched back a bit from his friend's sudden mood swing. "I-I know, Idris...but..." Looking back towards the prince, with hesitance in his eyes, he whispered "We aren't gonna try and kill him or anything, are we?" Idris stood there, still staring at what he called his enemy, before answering "No. That's not our mission." Alden nodded, relieved that his best friend still had some common sense.
Idris stood silently in thought before he leaned over the crib a bit, getting a better look at the tiny person in it. "Besides, we won't accomplish anything by getting rid of him." Alden nodded, showing his agreement.
: 8 Weeks Later, The Prince's Room :
The tower was filled with the buzz and hush of murmurs and whispers. The prince, Grodus, hadn't opened his eyes yet, even though he was supposed to 2 weeks ago. That was when most Nautian babies opened their eyes, revealing the color underneath them for their loved ones to marvel at and also so that the baby could acquire what they called "their true purpose and title", for the Nautians had an old tradition that they still follow to this day. This tradition was that the eyes of a person showed their true nature and whoever looked upon their opened eyes first would see this nature.
In Grodus's room, his caretakers, Idris and Alden, were looking after the baby prince, doing whatever they must to keep him happy. Right now, Idris was holding Grodus, letting the baby that was facing him sit on his lap. Make no mistake, Idris wasn't very thrilled about it and he only agreed to do so because one, Grodus was crying and two, Alden had to get Grodus's bottle ready. So Idris begrudgingly agreed to try and soothe the upset boy, though it looks like he wasn't having much luck. "Ugh. Can you stop being noisy for one minute?!" Idris asked the crying baby angrily. The lack of silence was an obvious answer. Alden told his friend "Calm down, Idris. He's probably just hungry. And besides, it's not like he can understand you." He couldn't help but giggle at the thought of a baby Grodus all of a sudden talking in complete, coherent sentences. It would be quite the sight. Idris only sighed in response and muttered "Still, it's annoying." Alden finished making the formula and took it over to Idris. He put the bottle in his hand and said "Here. It's your turn to feed him." He stifled a chuckle when Idris groaned in annoyance. Nonetheless, Idris situated Grodus in a comfortable position and bottle fed him. The sudden appearance of food quieted the baby and when he was done, he seemed quite content.
Alden and Idris sat there for a time in the middle of the room, listening as the baby's breathing slowed. After they were certain Grodus had fallen asleep, Idris slowly stood up and gently put Grodus in his crib. He and Alden walked quietly out of the room, with Alden starting a conversation as they went down the hallway. He asked "Whaddya think his eye color's gonna be? I'm thinking green." His friend chuckled under his breath at this, replying "Why do you think that?" "Well, I'm just guessing." A few more steps and Alden asked "What do you think?" A pause followed for a few minutes until Idris replied with a "Don't know." Alden snorted and said "Awww, you're no fun." Idris merely smiled at this statement, playfully punching Alden on the arm.
: Several Hours Later, The Caretakers' Quarters : In the caretakers' quarters, Idris and Alden had already retired to bed after making sure that their tiny responsibility was asleep and though Alden seemed to be fast asleep, Idris was wide awake, looking at the ceiling. The only reason he was in this position was for, mainly, revenge. The current ruler of Nautia, Emperor Ruadh, only cared for profit and money. Which explains why he didn't allow ANY of the hospitals to be financed, causing hundreds of Nautians to die of whatever ailed them. His and Alden's parents were among them. Understandably angered, most of the survivors that had enough created a rebel group to overthrow Raudh. He and Alden were spys within the group and they were good ones. After all, who would expect children to be working against you?
Right now, their mission was to get to the highest position that they could and those positions were the Main Adviser and the Leader of the Five. The Main Adviser was always the closest to the emperor and the Leader of the Five was the head of a group that each had their own department in science, financing, law or war and were also the main guards of the Emperor and his family. The closer to the Emperor, the closer to his secrets, which meant knowing some of his weaknesses.
Idris closed his eyes, thinking to himself 'I won't let them down.' He'd make sure Ruadh was kicked off of his throne, no matter the cost.
: Morning, The Prince's Room :
"...You're kidding me." He really didn't know what to think. Idris and Alden were in Grodus's room once again, having to check on the young prince right after they woke up. When Idris walked over to the crib, his eyes widened at what he saw. "What? What is it? Did he puke all over himself again?" Alden asked as briskly walked over to the stunned Idris. He looked into the crib to see how bad the supposed mess was, but instead found that...
"His eyes are open! Finally!" Alden cried out in excitement. Unlike his friend, he knew who and who not to blame with certain things. And right now, he was pretty certain the kingdom's current condition wasn't Grodus's fault. However, that wasn't on his mind at the moment. "What should we do? Should we call the Emperor or...oh man, he's probably gonna be ticked that he didn't see it first..." he said as he fluttered about the room in a mixture of panic and joy. He stopped when he realized that Idris had picked the baby up and put it at face level.
Grodus squealed happily as he saw his caretaker for the first time, being familiar with his hold. He reached his chubby hands out to touch Idris's face, babbling baby talk all the while. Idris, still a bit stunned from this sudden event, let the baby lay his hands on his black cheeks. Alden came closer to the two, smiling at the cute sight before him. "...So...what's it gonna be? His title and all..." he asked. After all, Idris was the first one to see Grodus's eyes open, though knowing Raudh, the Emperor would make sure to take all the credit. Idris probably wouldn't care, though.
Finally, Idris replied, giving the prince the title "He Who Conquers All".
