Strengths: His brute strength, size, surprisingly agility, defense, the ability to spew flames, magic.
Weaknesses: His affection towards the Princess, His Children, Common Sense for the most part.
Personality:
General Intelligence:
Bowser is indeed a rainbow of personality, meaning he packs quite a LOT of it. He can be full of sarcasm, wit, and often times an intelligence and knack for creating plans and weapons to use against any who dare to defy him. On the other hand, all of his brilliant plans and formulating and designs are often ruined because of his own impulses and lack of the more common senses. While he seems to lack more obvious logic and reasoning, his plans consist of more often than not, high tech weaponry by his own design to assist him in the conquering of the Mushroom Kingdom. His formulated strategies in defenses against his foes such as Mario, prove him to be an intelligent and composed leader.
General Emotions:
He seems to fluctuate between being driven by pure remorseless anger and a more comical sense of villainy. It’s been made clear hundreds of times that Bowser feels entitled to the Mushroom Kingdom and will do everything in his power to make it his. The reasons for this can be many. The fact that it’s been mentioned that the Toads have never taken the Koopa race seriously, and have often stepped on them in the past. Princess Peach is also a driving factor in the conquering of the kingdom. Obviously if he were to marry her, he’d be in control of everything, as well as gaining another adversary in magic, as Peach is shown to have powers to some degree. Also it could simply be that he feels he can do a much better job ruling it then the current preside of the throne. All of these reasons can point to his constant stream of anger and entitlement. Princess Peach constantly rejecting him only fuels the anger as he thinks he should have everything and that everyone should agree with his reasoning. He’s selfish and thinks highly of his own self and had little if any regard for anyone else.
Towards Minions:
Bowser wants success and is often let down by many of his incompetent minions. Many, MANY of his incompetent minions. While he’s disappointed in his appointed armies, as long as they’re willing to fight on his behalf to the death, he actually has a great deal of respect for that. It’s important that his armies are willing to fight, are willing to be trampled but get back up again. He’s not above punishing them for failing though. He has no tolerance for those who surrender, as his armies are a direct reflection of himself. He’s not weak, and neither is his military. When his patrols fail him he is often angered and thinking that all of his plans might stand a chance against the portly plumber if they were carried out by more competent people.
Towards His Kids:
He’s actually got a soft spot for his kids, especially his youngest but wouldn’t dare show them that, or the public that. If it wasn’t obvious he cared though, by giving all of them their own castles more often than once, he would’ve chucked them into lava when they were still eggs. He wants them to succeed and definitely knows he’s screwed up with them as a dad, but still hopes they’ll surpass his flaws when they’re older. He wants to leave a legacy behind, an 8 terrored legacy.
While he does seem to favor Bowser Junior, spoiling the prince rotten as well as taking him on most Mario-stomping outings, he’s proud to know that his son takes an interest in beating his rival with him, and that he’s basically a miniature version of him in almost every way. While it’s been speculated whether he was angry with his other kids for failing to take down the plumber and punished them by putting them on patrol duty around his castle for a while, he’s generally caring about all of his kids even though he says he isn’t. He’d rather know they’re bored to death around his castle as opposed to under Mario’s shoe somewhere with the life being choked out of them. Now that the kids have grown older and have learned from their mistakes however, he’s more than pleased to take them on his world-dominating outings with him.
Bowser actually prefers to spend as little time with his kids as possible, even though he does care. He shows a little bit of detachment from them, but it’s really for the sake of his sanity, and the fact that no pharmacies in the country can prescribe him enough pills to keep his throbbing migraines at bay.
Towards His Rivals:
Obviously he wants to throttle them. Stomping any who oppose him into the dust is what the Koopa King is KNOWN for. No one surpasses him. No one mocks him. And no one beats him.
Except a certain pair of annoying Mario Brothers that constantly seem to get in his way. And of course the occasional bean and witch who take over his castle and hypnotize his children and possess his body, but these are separate angering issues for the King entirely.
He has a great deal of respect for Mario, and thinks of him as being a worthy opponent. One would wonder what the koopa would DO with himself all day if there wasn’t a fight with said plumber at all. It’s true that he has little tolerance for people who stand in his way, but Mario continues to prove himself as his equal if not surpassing him at many objectives, which continues to infuriate him and puzzle him constantly.
As for Luigi, he could care less about the green string bean. He thinks of him as the sidekick, another fly against the windshield of his life. In fact, he constantly has to be reminded of his name and often refers to him as the Green Stache’ or ‘The Guy Whose Name Escapes Me.’
History:
Bowser was a pampered, spoiled prince raised by his father's advisor, Kamek. He was a tyrant even as a child, demanding and aggressive, and so scared most children his age away. This resulted in a pretty lonely and independent childhood, which he'd never admit to feeling sorry about. His demanding nature and selfish ways carried through onto adulthood, as he saw the Mushroom Kingdom as being an object of interest, and HE was going to have it, no one else.
Bowser is the King of Darklands, his awe inspiring fortress sitting atop a rock ledge with lava surrounding it. His main objective has been the same since years ago--take over the Mushroom Kingdom, which he would've done by now if it weren't for the meddling Mario Brothers. Him and Mario have clashed many-a-time over his insistant kidnappings of the royal princess. Let's face it, him and Mario don't plan on settling this over tea and crumpets anytime soon-not that the Koopa King would ever stoop so low as to 'settling' for anything.
His thoughts of conquest aren't stopping at the Mushroom Kingdom, as he eventually plans on ruling the entire world. But of course, one thing at a time.
